Changing Hands Bookstores Tempe & Phoenix, AZ The Poisoned Pen Bookstore Scottsdale, AZ July 24, 2023 PHOENIX / TULSA / SCOTTSDALE  (DAMN IT'S HOT!) I made it to Phoenix via the airplane and the second I stepped into that sweet Arizona air I thought I as going to die on the spot (118 degrees! at 9:30pm!). But I made it into my rental car with the crappy air-conditioning and made my way to one of like seven Hilton Garden Inn hotels here in the area (thankfully the hotel A/C worked better than the broken-down Jetta the rental company gave me). After a wholesome meal of Wendy's while watching the last 40 minutes of Airplane! I was ready to go for the next day's festivities. The awesome folks at CHANGING HANDS BOOKSTORES were kind enough to stock some copies of BOYS IN THE VALLEY and I can't tell you how impressed I was with both of their locations. I met up with Quinn at the Tempe location, which is huge,  and has so many great used and new books to choose from. After

Comic Con San Diego, CA July 21-22, 2023 COMIC CON SAN DIEGO This was my first time attending Comic Con San Diego as an actual participant , and it did NOT disappoint! After spending Friday wandering the main hall, buying up comics and merch and enjoying the crowd and cosplayers, I went to a publisher dinner with a bunch of the Tor / Nightfire PR & Marketing folks, along with a couple dozen authors, and had so much fun hanging with everyone. Showing (frankly) impressive restraint (the drinks were free, folks) I bowed out at a decent hour so I would get a good night's sleep for what would be a busy - and very fun - Saturday. My 10am panel with Johnny Compton, Holly Black, Martha Wells, Catriona Ward, and moderator Liz Kerin was an absolute BLAST. Full room and lots of buzz. After, we did a group signing, and I got to meet a few readers which is always my favorite. At 1pm I signed at the Tor Booth with Sylvain Neuvel, who is a super nice guy and amazing author and is now a friend

  Mysterious Galaxy San Diego, CA July 14, 2023 Artifact Books Encinitas, CA July 15, 2023 EVENTS BY THE SEA It's the weekend before Comic Con, my book has been out a total of three days, and my wife and I are heading south from our Los Angeles home to the San Diego area for multiple events. First, however, we need to brave INSANE traffic that makes what would normally be a 2.5 hour drive into a bumper-bumping 6 hours! But hey, that's the job, right? And luckily we left SUPER early so even with the delay I was able to make the events in plenty of time. We reach our hotel in Carlsbad and it's a beautiful day with a beautiful view. Sadly, we're now in a time crunch, so no time for lunch and no time to stare at the beach! So we dump our bags and hop back into the car in time to make it to La Jolla and the wonderful bookstore, WARWICKS, where they've kindly set aside a stack of my books for me to sign.  I would have loved to have hung out and chatted with the wonderful

Village Well Culver City, CA July 11, 2023 LAUNCH DAY Was thrilled to finally launch my new novel, BOYS IN THE VALLEY! The reception I received from social media platforms was overwhelming and wonderful and completely unexpected. And the response from early readers was incredible - folks genuinely seemed to be excited by the book and after a full day of reading reviews and reposting amazing images from around the world, I was ready to get out there and officially kick off the BOYS Summer Tour. My first event was at VILLAGE WELL in Culver City, CA, just a hop and a skip from my house. I was fortunate enough to have a dear friend, BRIAN EVENSON, on hand to help with the event itself, asking great questions about the book and leading the discussion with the folks who came out. I also did a 10-minute reading, which I'll likely have memorized by the time the tour is over! Followed of course by a signing for those in attendance, as well as signing a dozen or so books for folks who couldn
